Praying

‘Prayer is listening to and talking with God. It is about an ever deepening relationship with God.’

Here at St Paul's we believe prayer changes things, and therefore we are seeking to put it at the heart of our community. There are many ways to get involved in prayer, whether at the church, in the community, or through individual prayer times in our daily lives.

Prayer in our Sunday services

Each of our Sunday services include times of corporate prayer, as across the services we pray for the needs of the world, the church, the local community and individuals. At all our services we have people who are available to spend time praying alongside anyone for whatever issues or concerns may be on your mind. Please do ask at the service itself, or over refreshments afterwards in the St Paul's Centre, if this is something that would be helpful to you.

Powerhouse

We have a monthly prayer gathering called Powerhouse. We come together to encounter God and to focus our prayers on the world around us, using different forms of Christian prayer. If you'd like to join us at Powerhouse, it takes place on Sundays at 7:30pm. The dates for the first few months of 2012 are as follows: 15th January, 19th February, 18th March and 15th April.

Staff Prayers

The staff team gather together for Bible reading and prayer three times a week. This is a chance to bring before God the work and witness of our church, global partners, and the needs of the community we are here to serve. We also pray for the needs of individuals from within the church and the wider community.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
pour down your Spirit
on St Paul’s Church
in our 125th
anniversary year.
Grant us a new vision
of your glory,
a new experience
of your power,
a new faithfulness
to your Word
and a new commitment to your service,
so that we might
work with you
to grow your church and transform
your world,
through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for 2012

Living God,
draw us deeper into your love
and by the power of your Holy Spirit
at work within us:
stir us, strengthen us,
teach and inspire us:
to love one another
and to live your love
with generosity and joy,
imagination and courage;
for the sake of your world
and in the name of Jesus. Amen.
