Weddings
You are very welcome to get married here at St Paul’s if:
- one of you was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish;
- one of you has ever lived in the parish for six months or more;
- one of you has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
- one of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in your lifetime;
- one of your parents has regularly attended public worship here for six months or more in your lifetime;
- your parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
(All of these refer to Church of England services)
We recommend that you come along to one of our Sunday services and make yourselves known to a member of the clergy. They can then arrange a visit with you, and start making the preparations, including valuable pre-marriage conversations.
For more details please contact the church office.

Marriage Banns
The publication of marriage banns is a legal requirement within the Church of England. It means the public announcement by the minister during a normal church service that two people wish to marry, and gives a chance for anyone in the congregation to put forward a reason why the wedding should not take place.
Your banns will only need to be read here if you are getting married at St Paul’s, or if the wedding is elsewhere and you live in St Paul’s Parish.
If you need us to read your banns, please contact the church office at least four months before your wedding day. There is a small fee payable.
The banns will be read at our Early Start service at 9.15am on a Sunday morning, for three weeks in a row.
